    I had a 325 gram knob in my 86 and I thought it was absolutely perfect. I understand liking the notchy feel of the 199 grams but the transmission didn’t feel good enough to me to enjoy that. Interestingly, I am running 500 grams on the STI and I happen to think it’s perfect.

    I've had my GR86 for almost two years come November, I didn't even know cons one and two was a thing. I feel you may lean too far back, you should sit as upright as possible. I'm between 5'11" and 6' and these aren't issues for me.

      My opinion: the ND3 RF is an incredible car! I think a decision between the Miata and GR86 boils down to your priorities on daily usability, back seats, and whether a convertible is important. Hi ya Mike - thank you for this video - I am expecting delivery on a BRZ tS in the next couple weeks and was thinking about changing the knob. After seeing this video, I have decided to keep the OEM knob that is coming with the car. It looks like it will fit my needs very nicely. This video DID help regardless of the 'hater' comments below. Thanks again! Stay safe and healthy!

      @@KonkrRoads Actually, YES - not long after I am allowed to drive the tS, I intend to completely replace the exhaust system. Corsa Sport 2.5 in Cat-Back 4.5 in Single Tips - HKS Equal Length Catted Headers - Invidia Overpipe - Invidia Front Pipe - at least that is what I have planned for now. I had quadruple by-pass surgery on 2 Aug and am forbidden to drive a manual until October - lol. I have a friend that will drive the car from the dealership to my house until I can get to the Subbie shop. I am also looking into a couple engine enhancements/replacements that won't break my warranty.

      @KonkrRoads 6 днів тому

      @@bruceobrown534 hey Bruce, congrats on getting through the surgery! Loving the exhaust plan; that should get the car rowdy. Careful though on the header -- often engine warranty is compromised when you go aftermarket on this bit. Best to check with your dealer 🤙

    • @bruceobrown534
      @bruceobrown534 6 днів тому

      @@KonkrRoads The Subbie shop has volunteered/suggested that they would be willing to swap back the original header just for the services and warranty aspects. BUT I do intend to ask the dealerships - there are 2 of them the one where I am buying the car and the one where I will have it serviced - about the header/warranty issue. The tS will be the 10th Subbie I have owned, and I have a 23 Legacy Touring XT that will still be with me for 'bad' day driving. THAT one I will be 'allowed' to drive in a couple weeks - lol.

    I've had 2 heavy aftermarket shift knobs on 2 different cars (a 2009 2L NA lancer and a 370Z), no stock vs aftermarket weights sorry but they were brushed stainless so way on the heavy side I guess. I loved it on the lancer and found it didn't make much difference on the 370Z. I think it depends on the car (gearbox/throw/shiftknob combined) I've got a GT86 now and have been curious but also I'm not a big fan aesthetically of all the ones people usually mention, where did all the brushed metal ones go :( Guess based on your video I probably wouldn't want to go too heavy though

      @@KonkrRoads Mike the stock AWE sounds amazing with no drone but I found that there were a few too many decibels when simply commuting. Bit too much 'boy racer look at me' for me. There is room in the straight section for a couple of hot dogs which dropped the noise by say 15%. It sounds epic when you're on it but just a nice burble when you're not. Start up is still out there but I live out of town. Harrop are very well respected over here (Oz) and have been producing top notch racing products for many years. The install is super neat, it looks practically stock. Its unintrusive, it only runs about 5psi and doesn't introduce additional heat to the oil etc. Its difficult to convey the difference except to say it totally transforms the car. With N/A I'd often find myself up at the rev limiter to get things moving. Definitely not so now.. 4 to 6k rpm has enough forward motivation for any occasion! Roundabouts etc in town need a careful right foot. I love its ability to step out but the cops don't. I've also done brakes, wheels/tyres (RE71rs) and will fit a Verus baffle as soon as production starts. I've completely ignored the factory service recommendations. Its had 5w-30 Signature Amsoil with the first change at only 1500km. Its now at 8000km on the third lot of fresh oil. Its a sweet thing to own and now a sweeter thing to drive!

    Excellent video (subscribed). I have a 23 BRZ WRB. Love it. What are your thoughts on a set of high quality lowering springs (Tein H Tech)? Just going for the aesthetics, but would that just nullify the engineering that went into the stock suspension? Also, I love the signal stalk. Second nature after a week and no clicks! Also running the Borla S-Type exhaust. Wonderful.

    • @KonkrRoads
      @KonkrRoads Місяць тому

      Do you have the Borla S Gen1 or Gen2? Lowering springs are a good way to go, you just have to be careful on how low, spring rate, and progress vs linear. If you're going for just looks, a progressive spring will treat you best as normal driving won't be too punishing. The Tein H Techs lower less than an inch and that maintains some shock travel, and they appear progressive in the photos with rates at 190lbs/in front, 258lbs/in rear. If these are the max rates you'll be ok most of the time, but at a 10% increase front and 25% increase rear rate over the stock BRZ, the big bumps you'll feel the added rate in your soul. These days OEM ride height is worth the very compliant and sporty ride for me. 🤙
